For more than 50 years, the composer, musician and producer Klaus Schulze paved a way for avant-garde, ambient music, with his extensive sounds and legendary sequences.

In close consultation with the relatives of the electronic legend, who passed away in 2022, his label home at SPV is now revisiting the archives of the master of the Moog synthesiser. 101, MILKY WAY will be the first release of this renewed collaboration, coming 15th November (SPV Recordings).

101, MILKY WAY is a real treasure from Klaus Schulze's musical legacy. It is one of those Klaus Schulze works that absolutely needed to be presented to the world, and as such it is part of our obligation to share all of his music with all of you. And of course the genesis of this album - as always - has its very own history.

It all began at the end of 2008 with an enquiry from a German film production company asking if Klaus would perhaps create the score for a planned film documentary about computer hackers. In the end, this turned into a complete Klaus Schulze album, from which the director of the documentary film Hacker - Alex Biedermann - was only to use small parts as soft background music.

With 101, MILKY WAY, the complete work created in 2009 is now available for the first time - a greeting from Klaus' new cosmic home somewhere in the universe.

74 year old composer, musician and producer Klaus Schulze, born in Berlin, was known all over the world as the pioneer of electronic music and master of the Moog synthesiser. He shaped the 'Berlin School' and is the forefather of innumerable electronic music styles and genres. The ‘godfather of Techno Music' – as he was fondly called by some internationally-known DJs and remixers – rolled out his extensive sounds, played his legendary sequences and created his unique 'Schulze atmosphere' for more than 50 years. Beginning with Tangerine Dream and Ash Ra Tempel, Klaus created over 50 solo albums, including Irrlich, Mirage, X, Dune, Farscape, Kontinuum, Silhouettes, and lastly Deus Arrakis. Creating either under the moniker of Richard Wahnfried or in his various collaborations with great artists like Arthur Brown, Michael Shrieve, Rainer Bloss, Lisa Gerrard or lately Hans Zimmer: Klaus Schulze always remained faithful to his unmistakable style of making music, while keeping an open mind for innovations and experiments.
