Norwegian progressive metal masters Rendezvous Point have released their highly anticipated third full-length album Dream Chaser. The five-piece around Leprous drummer Baard Kolstad, Ihsahn keyboardist Nicolay Tangen Svennæs, singer Geirmund Hansen, guitarist Petter Hallaråker and bass player Gunn-Hilde Erstad continue to push boundaries with more concise songwriting and a wider focus on groove, riffs, melodies and hooks. With themes ranging from societal disillusionment to personal growth, Dream Chaser offers a compelling glimpse into the human experience. Rendezvous Point invite listeners to join them on their journey exploring the complexities of modern existence and the depths of emotional turmoil.

In conjunction with the album release the band shared a new music video for the song 'Presence'.

Dream Chaser delves deep into the realm of artistic exploration, focusing on the relentless pursuit of perfection. “Artists often strive a whole lifetime searching for something abstract, a feeling of perfection in what you do or create. Since it’s an abstract and subjective thing, the artists‘ search for perfection often results in a lifetime of always wanting more, better, bigger and deeper. This leads to chasing something unclear and un-touchable, like a dream. It seems real and reachable, but never is,“ comment the band.

Future Palace release video for new single 'Dreamstate'

German post-hardcore trio Future Palace have released a video for their new single 'Dreamstate'. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album Distortion, due for release on 6th September via Arising Empire.

Future Palace collaborated with Pavel Trebukhin once again for the 'Dreamstate' music video, returning to Riga, Latvia.

Check out the video for 'Dreamstate' here: https://youtu.be/_DYixxbUFB0

Stream 'Dreamstate' from midnight on DSPs here: https://arisingempire.com/dreamstate

Sometimes the world is so overwhelming that the thought of another reality seems like a salvation. In their new single 'Dreamstate' Future Palace describes the escape into a dream world with an unmatched musical vigour.

Dense synthwave arpeggios put the epic instrumentals into fluid hovering states, and the energetic drums sound like a racing heartbeat, while vocalist Maria Lessing lets all emotions run free in a monumental hook. With the crashing breakdown in the finale, in which the constructed illusion finally collapses like a nightmare, it becomes clear that this escape offers no real way out. In their new song, Future Palace emphasise, both sonically and lyrically, a desire for escapism that arises from deep pain.

That 'Dreamstate' has become such a massive sonic demonstration of power is not at all evident from the song's genesis. "At first, I actually intended to write a piano ballad," says guitarist Manuel Kohlert"But the song quickly became much harder."

"It's now one of my favourite songs on our new album," adds Lessing.

The organic development process of the song, in which quiet sounds were ultimately overtaken by massive anger, can perhaps even be read symbolically – after all, the vocalist was also thinking about her career as a musician, which sometimes seems just as overwhelming. "Very often I lack the strength to see it all through," she continues. "I think many people can empathise with this feeling of being overwhelmed in our performance-oriented society."

Future Palace's music has always explored internal struggles, and Distortion is the brutal climax of this approach. The album title, derived from the psychological term cognitive distortion, reflects a world where changing perceptions trap individuals in recurring pitfalls. Distortion addresses various mental illnesses and personal struggles, from ADHD to depression to narcissism. The band's third album is a powerful force of emotions, cycles, and cries of desperation, overwhelming listeners with its intensity.

The band's creativity shines as they tackle demanding topics with fresh perspectives. On Distortion, they build on their previous work by incorporating new elements, like orchestral interjections in 'The Echoes of Disparity', which combines brutal screams and chant-like passages to convey psychological struggle. 'Panic Paralysis' features a massive vocal motif with an arabesque touch, while 'They Take What They Want' dives into emotional depths, blending raw metalcore with gentle vocal passages and massive choirs.

Despite the album's emotional intensity, Distortion was created amid excessive demands. Produced by Julian Breucker and Christoph Wieczorek, known for their work with Annisokay, Beyond the Black, and Smash Into Pieces, the recording process was grueling. Singer Maria Lessing recorded the album with a root infection and after wisdom tooth surgery, adding stress but enhancing the songs' authenticity. Guitarist Manuel Kohlert notes that the album reflects the band's experience as a heavy touring band, capturing the feelings of being on the road and contemplating their existence.

Despite its challenges, Distortion carries a piece of hope. 'Decarabia' tells a bittersweet story about a depressed couple, while 'The Echoes of Disparity', featuring Charlie Rolfe of As Everything Unfolds, is militantly rebellious, addressing abuse of power and the oppression of women. Lessing emphasizes the importance of female support to convey the song's message loudly.

The album features the most powerful metalcore breakdowns meeting trembling darkwave beats, anthemic emocore refrains à la Bad Omens contrasted with sacred choirs, and the coldness of industrial clashing with the powerful emotionality of Sleep Token, making Distortion an album like a manifesto.

Day of the Locust' showcases the band's evolution and from their most aggressive and unrelenting side. They usher in a new era marked by a sense of darkness and brutality yet to be seen from them.

Since their formation in 2021, ACCVSED have adhered to one principle: presenting themselves to the world authentically, without playing a role or sugarcoating their expressions. They channel their deepest traumas and fears into their music, creating a distinct and energetic blend of bold guitar riffs, unique vocals, and raw emotion. This combination shapes their sound into an unstoppable force.

Hailing from Wiesbaden, ACCVSED quickly realised that being a local band was not their ambition. They moved swiftly and made a significant impact on the music scene with their debut EP House of Doubt, released in December 2023. The breakthrough single 'Currents' led the six track EP, establishing a foundation for their constantly evolving musical style and garnering them worldwide attention. This success resulted in support shows and festival appearances throughout Germany.

Rising UK alt-metal unit Defences stream new single / video 'The Almost'

Future alternative metal greats Defences present their stunning new single/video 'The Almost' via Long Branch Records.

Watch the video for 'The Almost' here: https://youtu.be/K_0FfKz-NUM

Stream here: https://orcd.co/defences_thealmost

“With ‘The Almost‘ we wanted to dive into the dangers of comparing yourself and your achievements to the people around you,“ comment the band. “It is all too easy to see the often manipulated, idyllic versions of people’s lives on social media and come to the conclusion that you’re missing out, that you’re not living life to the fullest. To be stuck in a place where you feel like your life has not begun is a horrible and unnecessary feeling, and we wanted to put a name to it. That’s where ‘The Almost‘ comes in.

"Our version of this place, ‘The Almost‘, is a sort of limbo. It serves as an allegory for these comparisons, trapping us and getting in the way of self fulfilment and happiness. The results of this process are seen in this darker, more corrupted reflection of
Cherry that has taken over in the visuals, serving as a personification of the dangers of being trapped in vicious cycles like this one.“

'The Almost' follows previous singles 'The Curse' s and 'Gold In The Dark'.

Defences will return to British stages with Swarm6ix joining them as special guests.

Upcoming dates:

Sep 07: Tunbridge Wells, Sussex Arms /w Swarm6ix

A proven hit on the live circuit, Defences have numerous U.K. tours with multiple sell-out headline shows under their belts, as well as festival appearances including Download, Takedown, Turbulence and Burn It Down. With new material, live shows and the support of their strong fan community cultivated in their #TheHeart fan page, 2024 promises to be a big year for the quintet.

Alt-pop trio Exploring Birdsong unveil new single 'Turntail'

A beautifully curious blend of pop-sensibility, delicacy, experimentation and heaviness. Piano led, guitar-less trio Exploring Birdsong are paving their own musical path with their latest single 'Turntail', out now via Long Branch Records.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/vmwaED9WN5M

Stream the single here: https://orcd.co/exploringbirdsong_turntail

“In a similar way to the latest single 'The Collapse', the bones of 'Turntail' were originally formed a while back, whilst we were still at university," comment the band. "The first version of the song was actually written long enough ago that we were considering to be a part of our debut EP The Thing With Feathers. Where 'Turntail' differs from 'The Collapse', however, is we always knew there was a great song in there somewhere. The chorus we feel is one of the strongest we’ve ever written, and we didn’t want to force releasing a song we think may benefit from a revisit later down the line. Fortunately, we feel the wait has paid off, and the version of 'Turntail' you hear today is something we’re really proud of. It represents both the older parts of us, along with the fresher, future version of Birdsong, and releasing it now feels right.”

Exploring Birdsong will be headlining Manchester's Deaf Institute on 22nd June (close to sold out). Support comes from Toria Wooff and Cleaver Blue. Get your tickets: https://linktr.ee/exploringbirdsong

Exploring Birdsong's new singles follows the band's stunning Deftones cover of 'Diamond Eyes', and their second EP Dancing in the Face of Danger (March 2023, Long Branch Records), released to rave reviews worldwide. The band wanted to draw a line in the sand following Dancing in the Face of Danger to mark the start of a new chapter as a band, and, through coincidence, eventually ended up working with a new production team (Tom Peters - engineering and mixing & Grant Berry - mastering) which has helped bookend the Dancing in the Face of Danger period. They comment: "We wanted to experiment sonically before heading into full-length album territory, which is why we think it feels different to anything we’ve released previously."

The young group recently joined Katatonia as special guest for their shows in Ireland - the first live performances since their European debut at Euroblast Festival (Cologne, DE), mainstage set at RADAR Festival, and inaugural headline tour across the UK in September 2021, including London, Manchester and Birmingham, and following successful support tours with the likes of Sleep Token and Thank You Scientist.

Rarely are new groups as exciting, talented or unique as Exploring Birdsong. Straddling pop, progressive rock and uncategorisable genre-blending beauty, the band are unplaceable for the most part, but bring to mind elements of Kate BushSleep Token, Everything Everything and Agent Fresco.

Rarely too do you hear voices as captivating as frontwoman Lynsey Ward’s. Powerful, controlled, and spine-chillingly tender, Lynsey’s vocals help mark Exploring Birdsong as a prospect to watch, from the release of their acclaimed debut The Thing With Feathers (2019, Long Branch Records) to 2023's EP Dancing in the Face of Danger.

Lynsey Ward - vocals, piano
Jonny Knight - bass, synthesisers
Matt Harrison - drums, percussion

Finnish metal quartet Assemble The Chariots announce debut album and stream single

Finland’s Assemble The Chariots return with a brand new epic, full-length concept album, Unyielding Night, which is set for a 19th July release via Seek &and Strike. They have also unveiled their single 'Evermurk'.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/1b26bNUzF7A

'Evermurk' perfectly showcases the band’s dynamic songwriting prowess and encapsulates the overall tone of the record. This track is an intricate extreme metal masterpiece and its video is equally as bombastic as the song itself, which quickly pulls you into another dimension with its grandiose landscape. Assemble The Chariots are poised to cement themselves as one of the genre’s best with this new album, which is simply undeniable.

Assemble The Chariots states: "From the beginning, our collective mindset was to primarily focus on the story and to ignore musical trends and boundaries, as we wanted the album to feel like a movie soundtrack. We also wanted to make playing the songs live fun as well. This means that instead of only writing super technical and complex songs, we took a different approach by contrasting the more challenging parts with more simpler elements whenever the songs needed them. This provided us the freedom to perform and enjoy the music on a whole different level.

“Our newest single, ‘Evermurk,’ almost didn’t make the album. After several revisions with different tempo and key variations and alternative endings, we made the song fit perfectly. We had to make some pre-determined compositional decisions on the songs around ‘Evermurk' before finishing the single. ‘Evermurk' has all the essential Assemble The Chariots elements, such as syncopated double kick patterns, menacing riffs and gigantic choruses. We decided to further elevate the song with an atypical vocal style, adding extra drama on the composition in order to tell the story. Story-wise, the song is the long awaited counterpart to our previous stand-alone single, ‘Empress.' Where ‘Empress' is the depiction of the goddess of light in the ATC universe, ‘Evermurk' refers to the dark entity, which is directly controlled be her darkness. ‘Evermurk' is the embodiment of the darkness spreading through the cosmos. This dichotomy can be directly heard in the composition of the song with it having very evil and menacing verses, yet very epic choruses filled with melody and major chords.

"Our new music is a non-traditional combination of traditional elements to create an epic showcase of what metal can be in modern times. The way the songs have been arranged and composed keeps the listener aware and drags you into the song. Every note and hit has been carefully crafted with a greater picture in mind. This, in conjunction with the highly thought-out lore behind the songs, creates a combination that truly feels fresh and unique in a pretty saturated field. Our sincere wish is that anyone who stumbles upon this album, would be open to listening to it as a piece of heavy metal history, instead of an example of what a specific genre should to them sound like.

"If you like blast-beats, mega-epic orchestrations, spectacular live shows and nerding out to intricate lore, or if you are just yearning for a unique sounding metal band to add to your song libraries, Assemble The Chariots is your band."

Assemble the Chariots are an extreme metal band from southern Finland. formed in 2008. Their sound is a unique combination of harsh blackened riffs, earth-shattering blast beats, magnificent orchestrals and terror-inducing vocals.

Over the last decade, the band have performed at numerous festivals and shared the stage with Suicide Silence, Ihsahn and many others. In 2020, Assemble The Chariots signed a worldwide record deal with Seek & Strike.

Swedish progressive metal band Allt stream new single and announce EU tour with Imminence

Swedish progressive metal outfit Allt are back with new music and proudly present their new single 'Remnant', out now via Century Media. The track is a heavy-laden mélange of melancholic vocals, haunting riffs, sublime noise effects and Allt’s signature sound.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/CIknY9gk1OQ

Stream here: https://alltband.lnk.to/Remnant-Single

The band commented on their new single: “'Remnant' is a deeply personal and thematic track, even by our standards. It marks the beginning of a new narrative that we're eager to unveil. In writing this song, we aimed to capture the essence of radioactivity and otherworldly forces. The track is profoundly human, yet it possesses an unmistakable alien quality. It is as melancholy as it is heavy—a tale of human frailty and survival.”

'Remnant' comes with a with a haunting music video by Riivata Visuals, who have already produced the last two music videos for Allt’s most recent singles 'Emanate' and 'The Orphan Breed'.

Riivata Visuals share about the video production: "Working with Allt barely feels like work because we love it so much. Our visual and their musical styles are a match made in heaven. We met up in Helsinki earlier this year to shoot the music video for 'Remnant' at 'Valofirma Studios'. The theme is quite post-apocalyptic so we had some fun with old clothes and scissors, and got the band looking like a proper group of scavengers. We thoroughly enjoyed the making of this video and we can’t wait for many more to come!"

96 Bitter Beings release new re-recorded CKY fan favourites, Return to Hellview LP and drop new video

Influential Los Angeles rock band 96 Bitter Beings have released their new record Return To Hellview (14th June, Nuclear Blast Records) with a new video for 'Flesh Into Gear'.

The collection of fan-favourite, re-recorded CKY tracks spanning founding guitarist, vocalist and primary songwriter Deron Miller’s time with the band, is available digitally now from Nuclear Blast Records.

Watch 'Flesh Into Gear' here: https://youtu.be/cQ0wqDCWQWg

Stream Return To Hellview: https://bfan.link/return-to-hellview

Miller commented on the record:

Revisiting these songs was a blast. I hadn’t heard the original versions in so long but I was able to get a lot of the re-recordings done just from memory. When the recording process got down to covering specific details of all the tracks, that’s when I went back and listened to the original versions.

"I love all the songs but there’s always been issues that bothered me about the originals. A lot of my problems with them were arbitrary and not that important…things that I just wanted to fix that most listeners wouldn’t even notice. But there were some things I wanted to add to these songs and some things I wanted to take out. The goal was to challenge myself to redo these classic tracks in a way that they could be heard as remixes instead of re-recordings. I think we succeeded.

"I hope a lot of fans will hear this album as remixes of the originals. Not many bands have access to the original masters that are owned by record companies and therefore don’t have the option to remix anything. We’re excited to see the response."

Of 'Flesh Into Gear', Miller adds:

‘Flesh Into Gear’ was a sizeable hit for me and because of that I tended to always put it under a microscope. I was never fully happy with the original’s mix. I’m finally 100% happy with it. This whole process is the result of a nutty perfectionist trying to chase that feeling of total satisfaction. I achieved it. Basically, I’m saying I won’t be doing this again 20 years from now.”

Deron Miller gives his life to the riff. Unrestrained by industry expectations and genre limitations, the boundlessly prolific guitarist and voice behind multiple beloved projects is best known as the founder, frontman, and songwriter in CKY. His authentic and effortlessly hooky heavy rock obsession returns with 96 Bitter Beings. Reinvigorated and ready to rumble all over again, Miller roars back with the same reverence for riffage that made underground hits out of CKY anthems like 'Flesh Into Gear', 'Escape from Hellview', and 'Disengage the Simulator' from 1998 till 2011.

The familiar warmth, feel, groove, and unapologetic honesty which drove the song '96 Quite Bitter Beings' to 54 million streams (on Spotify alone) permeates the pair of albums unleashed by 96BB

A successful crowdfunding campaign saw Miller, guitarist Kenneth Hunter, bassist Shaun Luera and Shaun’s brother, drummer Tim, conjure up 2018’s Camp Pain in limited release. North American touring followed, wrapping up shortly before the COVID-19 shutdowns.

“After CKY and a short break, I decided to continue, without changing the sound,” Miller explains. “Because that’s what I do. It’s what I love to do and what people say I do well. All of the guys who got in the band with me are great musicians. And each of them is hungry. They have priorities and ambitions about being in a rock band, no matter the grim state of pop music out there. If we can bring rock and metal back to the mainstream, in some way, that’s the dream.”

In 2022, 96 Bitter Beings joined Nuclear Blast Records and shortly after released their critically revered album, Synergy Restored, which features the standout tracks ‘Vaudeville’s Revenge,’ ‘Wish Me Dead,’ ‘Fire Skyline’ and ‘Bloodrock Mania.’
