Multi-faceted rock outfit PLAIINS sign with Long Branch Records, reveal new single

Tons of groovy riffs, instantly infectious hooks and frontman Chris Reardon's crazy vocals make PLAIINS' sound a feast for fans of passionately played guitar music. The international quartet with members from the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Israel and Germany have recently signed to Long Branch Records and stream their new single 'Slow Rotting, Fast Decay', today.

Watch the live session for 'Slow Rotting, Fast Decay' here:

"'Slow Rotting, Fast Decay' is a song about the disintegration of a relationship," comments frontman Chris Reardon. "The relationship has been slowly fracturing and falling apart as the protagonist is trying desperately to search for hope to bring the relationship back together. The song has a slight emo throwback of the likes of My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday. The bridge section drops into a heavy guitar riff as the protagonist’s heart sinks that perhaps the relationship is too broken to fix."

PLAIINS hit you like a freight train - songs full of power and character, craziness and energy. Founded by singer Chris amidst the pandemic PLAIINS are growing on the soil made fertile by bands like IDLES, QOTSA and Turnstile. Since the release of their debut single 'The Wolf' in March 2022, Dizzy, Flo, Timon and Chris have racked up tons of streams, been featured in major editorial playlists on all important platforms (All New Rock, All New Punk etc) and been a recurring guest on big radio stations like BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing and RBB Fritz.

With their latest Blow Up The Fizz EP they have been cementing their status as a must-watch-act, showing themselves as a modern, multi-facetted rock outfit. They are able to combine introverted moments with 90s influences, big hooks and sing-along choruses with wiry punk riffs and beefy drums. PLAIINS are talking about the topics that touch their (and probably every other) generation; sex, love, longing and the search for identity, as well as toxic relationships, mental health and social issues. The four are showcasing every emotion, unfiltered, whether on recording, their music videos or live on stage.

On tour with acts like LEAP, Press Club or Itchy, as well as on their own headline shows, PLAIINS prove that they can hold their own both on the small and big stages. If you go see them live (and you should!), you can expect shouting, jumping, stomping and sweating, the boundary between band and audience blurring - high emotions and always with all their heart.

PLAIINS will be performing next at Reeperbahn 2024.

In addition to the subsequent massive Wolfsnächte 2024 tour through Europe in October and their South American tour in spring 2025, the wolves are confirmed for many more big festivals in premium positions. POWERWOLF have been announced for the 2025 editions of Rock am Ring and Rock im Park - for the first time ever. The wolves are once again ready to conquer the biggest stages worldwide.

Wake Up The Wicked was once again produced by the outstanding Joost van den Broek at Sandlane Recording Facilities and marks a new benchmark and undisputed career highlight for the band. The new album is hard, surprising and full of variety. While staying true to their established, loved sound, POWERWOLF go one step further and showcase a different facet of their deft musical and technical skills. This is evident, for example, on the outstanding single '1589', which is based on a true story from the 16th Century.

20 years after their formation in 2004, POWERWOLF are expanding their repertoire with the highest quality and adding many future live hits to their extraordinary discography. Go Ahead And Die announce live album: BETTER DEAD THAN MAINSTREAM: LIVE AT THE MARQUEE THEATER

Arizona death-crust legends Go Ahead And Die are proud to announce their newest offering, Better Dead Than Mainstream: Live At The Marquee Theater, will be released digitally on 13th September via Nuclear Blast Records.

Pre-save Better Dead Than Mainstream: Live At The Marquee Theater here:
https://bfan.link/gaad-bdtm-live

The album was recorded at the band's show supporting Soulfly, alongside Incite and Healing Magic. The night featured a performance of their debut self-titled album which was released two months prior. The audio for the live album was produced, engineered, and mastered by Arthur Rizk. For the album cover, the band enlisted Costin Chioreanu to create the artwork.

Max Cavalera states, "It’s amazing to me that the lockdown allowed Igor and myself the opportunity to make such a brutal record! That era gave us a clear view of harmful social issues as authoritarian rule was exploding in aggressive ways. This is a true live album, with no overdubs. It’s as brutal as the pandemic!"

Igor Amadeus Cavalera comments, “Playing live with GAAD is an absolute adrenaline rush. You can hear the unchained raw energy through every song on this recording.”

Go Ahead And Die unleashed their caustic sophomore album Unhealthy Mechanisms last year via Nuclear Blast Records. A torrential whirlwind born from the livid minds of Igor Amadeus Cavalera (Healing Magic) and Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy). The sophomore album is a fresh dive into the madness of society and the pollution that ravages our minds. Unhealthy Mechanisms was produced by Igor Amadeus Cavalera, while John Aquilino handled the recording in his Platinum Underground Studio steeped in the mystic ambiance of the Superstition Mountains’ foothillsThe mixing and mastering were once again handled by Arthur Rizk (Cavalera, Soulfly, Turnstile). For the artwork, the band enlisted Santiago Jaramillo of Triple Seis Design to create the unnerving design that fits with the album title. Go Ahead And Die's newest record is a testament to declining mental health around the world, and a reminder that we are not alone in our pain.

The mind is lost. The fuse is lit. Time to set everything ablaze.

Charlotte Wessels reveals intense new single 'The Crying Room'

Eclectic singer-songwriter Charlotte Wessels (ex-Delain) has unveiled her brand new single entitled 'The Crying Room' today, alongside a gripping music video featuring footage from the song’s first ever live performance. 'The Crying Room' is the next harbinger of Wessels’ first traditional full-length, full-band solo album, The Obsession, set to be released on 20th September 2024 via Napalm Records.

Watch the 'The Crying Room'  video here: https://youtu.be/EF9bo5wp14E

Pre-order The Obsession here: https://lnk.to/CW-TheObsession/napalmrecords

'The Crying Room' unveils another touching facet of this sonic masterpiece, where themes like fear, obsessive thoughts and escapism run rampant on the one hand, whereas there are also songs that offer a more upbeat approach to the subject. 'The Crying Room' deals with that fear while a weeping guitar solo draws the listener into darker soundscapes.

Charlotte Wessels commented on 'The Crying Room': “When we were gearing up for the very first performance under my own name after Covid, my tour manager asked if I wanted my own dressing room. Knowing full well that I’d be an anxious mess, I told her I didn’t need a private room—just somewhere I could have a well-earned meltdown without ruining everyone’s vibe. And that, my friends, is how ‘The Crying Room’ was born. It’s a song about the fear of failure, about needing to catch your breath before diving headfirst into something new. Everyone loves to tell stories about courage and heroism, but let’s be real: I want to hear more stories about people who are absolutely terrified... and do the thing anyway - it's a central theme on the album, and ‘The Crying Room’ is an invitation to do just that.”

On The ObsessionCharlotte Wessels adds bucketloads of bombast to her genre-bending songwriting, as spellbinding melancholia and dark catchy elements meet progressive and heavier tunes. The storytelling within the songs give the multifaceted album even more depth, making The Obsession an exciting listening experience and Wessels’ most mature solo offering so far.

Charlotte Wessels will join VOLA on their Friend of a Phantom EU Tour 2024.

UK dates with VOLA:

Nov 11: UK London, Heaven
Nov 11: UK Nottingham, Rescue Rooms
Nov 11: UK Glasgow, G2
Nov 11: UK Manchester, Club Academy
Nov 11: UK Bristol, SWX

Whilst still writing and producing the songs in her Six Feet Under basement home studio and sharing their first incarnations with her patrons, Charlotte Wessels is now taking the songs off her new album The Obsession to the next level with a band of her fellow ex-Delain cohorts: Timo Somers (guitars, additional arrangements), Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije (bass) and Joey Marin de Boer (drums), as well as Sophia Vernikov (piano/hammond) contributing to the new heavier sound. The album also features arrangements by Vikram Shankar (Silent Skies, Pain of Salvation), cello by Elianne Anemaat, was mixed by Guido Aalbers (Muse, Coldplay, The Gathering) and mastered by Andy VanDette (Porcupine Tree, VOLA, Dream Theater).

Wessels on the new album: "On the one hand, this album tells a very personal story – through its unintended theme of fear, obsessive thoughts and the escapes from them – and at the same time it represents the joy of finding the songs' true forms with everyone involved in the making of this record. That’s why I chose The Obsession as a title. It refers to my personal challenges with OCD that inspired many of the songs - but I’ve also started referring to the band as The Obsession - because there were moments in the studio with them that truly reminded me of why I'm obsessed with making music in the first place."

With thousands of monthly listeners on Spotify and a loyal fan base on Patreon, Charlotte Wessels has already made a mark with her earlier solo endeavors, Tales From Six Feet Under (2021) and Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II (2022). Now, she is taking her career to the next level with The Obsession. These compilations showcased her ability to blend various musical styles and deeply personal lyrics, earning her widespread acclaim. The Obsession is expected to build on this foundation, offering fans an even more immersive and powerful musical experience.

Themes like fear, obsessive thoughts and escapism run rampant on the album, presenting dark and heavy on songs like 'The Exorcism', 'The Crying Room' and 'Ode To The West Wind' (feat. Alissa White-Gluz/Arch Enemy). In addition, there are songs that offer a more upbeat approach to the subject – like 'Dopamine' (feat. Simone Simons/Epica) which deals with SSRI-induced numbness, or 'Praise' – which sings the gospel of needing external validation in order to feel anything. The reimagining of fan-favorite 'Soft Revolution' won’t leave a dry eye in the room, while 'Soulstice' and 'Serpentine' present an unprecedented dark sensuality. Each song itself functions like an exorcism, an attempt to cast out a little of the fear it deals with.

Wessels comments on the guests: “I’m extremely grateful and proud to add Simone Simons and Alissa White-Gluz to the line-up of this album. They are creative powerhouses that I have so much love and respect for. Whenever we get to work together is an absolute treat and they really elevated the songs with their performances.”

Annisokay release new single/video 'Get Your Sh*t Together'

Annisokay, known for their intense blend of metalcore and post-hardcore, have dropped a new single titled 'Get Your Sh*t Together', along with an equally gripping music video. The track is a raw expression of frustration with the current state of the world, combining heavy riffs and powerful vocals to deliver a message that resonates with the chaos of our times.

"The video for ‘Get Your Sh*t Together’ starts off like a classic bank robbery. Armed with guns and modern gear, and with Rudi as our hacker in the van, we’ve planned the perfect job. But what if we’re after something much bigger than cash? There are secrets guarded more closely than any fortune in the world—secrets that were never meant to see the light of day. What if we manage to uncover them? We don’t want money; we want answers!"

The song captures the overwhelming emotions many feel today, encapsulated perfectly in the band’s inspiration:

"Do you also feel like the whole world is spiraling out of control? It seems like the most powerful and influential people have lost their minds, pushing us closer and closer to the edge. But it’s not just them—everyday people who talk nonsense and make life difficult make you want to shout, ‘Get your sh*t together!’”

Our Hollow, Our Home release new single/video 'In Reflection'

Southampton metalcore juggernaut Our Hollow, Our Home have released their newest single 'In Reflection', another glimpse of their upcoming album - their last - Hope & Hell (27th September, Arising Empire).

The brand new single offers a departure from Our Hollow, Our Home's usual sound with a calm acoustic track that highlights their versatility. Known for their energetic performances and powerful sound, this track provides a more introspective and emotional experience, promising to be a unique addition to their discography.

The single will be available on their forthcoming album Hope & Hell, available as CD and limited coloured vinyl - and is now available on all major streaming platforms.

The level of relatability, coupled with their relentless touring with the likes of A Day To Remember, Asking Alexandria and Blessthefall and high profile slots at festivals like Graspop, Nova Rock, Summerblast and Jera On Air, has seen the band command an ever growing army of highly dedicated followers; they have over 115,000 monthlies and 50M streams on Spotify, have been viewed over 9 million times on Youtube and have over 29,000 Instagram followers and 107,000 on Facebook and 2017’s debut album Hartsick reached the top spot of the Itunes chart for rock and metal in the UK, as well as placing in the top ten in the USA, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Italy and Germany.

They were also boosted by their hugely popular cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’ in 2017, which was picked up by BBC Radio One’s Greg James and subsequently topped the iTunes UK rock and metal chart, and racked up over 300,000 plays on YouTube on its first week of release.

For a band who have handled their own operations internally without the help of major label or industry backing till today, that is a mightily impressive number, and testament to the devotion Our Hollow, Our Home have to their craft. But it’s more than just the numbers that are impressive, it’s the way in which those people have connected with the band. Phenomena II serves as the sequel to the Within The Ruins' critically lauded Phenomena full-length, which was released a decade ago and has reaped over 18 million streams to date. “We had written a handful of songs, and we were searching for inspiration,” recalls guitarist Joe Cocchi. “We wanted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Phenomena, because it was a pinnacle point of our career. I wrote a demo that reminded [vocalist] Steve [Tinnon] of Phenomena. So, it was his idea to create Phenomena II. The styles really aligned in terms of the unique guitar effects and the themes where each track tells a story from a comic book character’s point-of-view.”

With Demon Killer,' the band tempers technicality with moral ambiguity within its depiction of [DC Comics antihero] Constantine. “It checked all of the boxes by utilizing this glitchy effect we started using on Phenomena,” Cocchi elaborates. “'Demon Killer’ is Constantine. He was born into a world that never appreciated him. Steve is breaking down his character by talking about his internal conflicts and how he’s fighting evil with evil.”

"The imagery and effects do incredible justice to the character of John Constantine, and really encapsulate his struggle between the forces of good and evil. We absolutely love how this video turned out,"
Tinnon adds.

Evolution drives longevity. Within The Ruins relentlessly pushes forward, incinerating complacency and innovating out of its ashes. The Western Massachusetts quartet — Joe Cocchi (guitar), Kevin McGuill (drums), Paolo Galang (bass, clean vocals), and Steve Tinnon (lead vocals) — razes convention with a sonic sensory onslaught anchored by polyrhythmic bludgeoning, head-nodding grooves, viscerally evocative vocals, and vivid storytelling. Their controlled chaos has resulted in tens of millions of streams (a rarity for acts this uncompromisingly heavy), packed houses on tour, and widespread acclaim courtesy of Alternative Press, American Songwriter, Loudwire, Metal Injection, Phoenix New Times, and many more.

Now, they continue to evolve on their seventh full-length offering, Phenomena II. “When you listen to us, we hope you feel like you found some fresh metal,” notes Cocchi. “After doing anything for a long time, it’s easy to get stuck in your ways. So, we always try to present something you haven’t heard before—and you aren’t going to get anywhere else.”

That’s what the band has done since their formation in 2003…

As the story goes, Cocchi and McGuill first linked up back in high school. They slogged it out locally for a long time, solidifying the initial core lineup of Within The Ruins with previous vocalist Tim Goergen. Building a devout fan base one gig and project at a time, they served up Creature (2009), Invade (2010), and Elite (2013), paving the way for the fan favourite, Phenomena (2014). Drawing its primary subject matter from Marvel and DC characters, the latter yielded two of their most popular anthems 'Gods Amongst Men' and 'Enigma,' which reeled in 4.7 million Spotify streams and 3.5 million Spotify streams, respectively. Following Halfway Human (2017), the musicians welcomed Steve Tinnon to the fold and ignited Black Heart during 2020. Highlighted by 'Deliverance,' 'Devil In Me,' and 'Black Heart,' the latter incited critical applause. American Songwriter praised how Within The Ruins takes deathcore to a new level with Black Heart.”

Tinnon’s addition had injected fresh fire into the band as they continued to write and record. In the meantime, Cocchi opened up his own brewery Tin Bridge Brewing where he and McGuill both work. Tin Bridge Brewing also serves as the band’s homebase, including their studio on site. With the decade anniversary of Phenomena looming, the musicians made a conscious decision to leap forward by looking back. The band wrote and recorded in their hub of Westfield, Massachusetts with Cocchi at the helm as producer once again.

We had written a handful of songs, and we were searching for inspiration,” recalls Cocchi. “We wanted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Phenomena, because it was a pinnacle point of our career. I wrote a demo that reminded Steve of Phenomena. So, it was his idea to create Phenomena II. The styles really aligned in terms of the unique guitar effects and the themes where each track tells a story from a comic book character’s point-of-view.”
