Prog-metallers Exist Immortal release new single 'By Design'

UK’s Exist Immortal (EXIM) return with their last standalone single of the year before going to take some time to write a new EP. This blistering, new track, 'By Design,' is a heavy metal juggernaut with all of the trademark EXIM elements from soaring vocal melodies, infectious hooks and crazy dual lead guitars. This song is a definitive statement on the band’s constant evolution resulting in them truly dialing in their sound to sheer perfection.

From their ground-breaking performance at this year’s Bloodstock Festival to touring Japan with the legendary Cynic, the band have proven that they have what it takes to become one of the biggest artists within their genre and can hang alongside anyone in the live show arena.

Exist Immortal state: "We are pleased to announce our latest offering ‘By Design’. This song includes elements from everything we have developed this year, including some of our heaviest riffs but also our prettiest clean sections. ‘By Design’ explores the journey of self navigating self doubt, societal pressures and the importance of holding onto hope and connection. We can’t wait for everyone to hear it!

"Fresh off the back of two sold out shows in London and Cambridge, the momentum is building and we can’t wait to crack on into 2025 with more new music, plus many more tour dates. Catch us at our final show of the year on December 7th in Brighton!"

The band have played festivals such as Metaldays (SLOV), Euroblast (GER), Maximum Rock (ROM), Complexity Fest (NL) and have toured with high profile acts such as Sikth, Textures, Landmvrks and Cynic. EXIM have also headlined the main stage at UK Tech Fest (2022), and in 2023 completed sold out tours in Mexico and most recently Japan, ending what has been a whirlwind year of highlights, cementing the band as one of the hottest acts in the progressive metal/metalcore scene.

The band comment: "This song is about breaking free from limitations, reclaiming control, and standing strong in the face of adversity.

"You’ve got the power to take control of your future. Break me free from this maze of fools, we're in."

The new track follows their previous chart-topping singles, including 'Six Feet Under' and 'Heroes Are Calling.' Both songs have seen significant streaming numbers, with 'Six Feet Under' earning double Platinum status and 'Heroes Are Calling' achieving Gold within weeks of its release.

Known for their distinctive futuristic and apocalyptic aesthetic, Smash Into Pieces have also gained recognition for their cinematic mini-series 'ARCADIA WORLD,' which explores a parallel virtual reality. This was followed by a busy touring schedule across Europe and the US, with a total of over 150 live shows throughout the year.

2024 began on a high note as the band once again competed in Swedish Eurovision, where they reached #3 in the grand final, and their single topped Swedish radio charts for four weeks. They end the year with their UK headline tour (supported by From Fall To Spring).

German pop-punk act Indecent Behavior release first single on new label Long Branch Records

Rising German pop-punk band Indecent Behavior have released their new single and Long Branch Records debut 'Chaos' along with a music video. This follows a busy 2024 which saw them tour with zebrahead and Neck Deep, and take to the stages of Rock am Ring, Rock im Park and Full Force festivals, among others.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/6ZqU-XViIBk

Stream here: https://orcd.co/indecentbehavior_chaos

"If I could follow you, we could make it through the storm - how many times have I felt trapped in my own head?" comments singer Henrik Bergmann. "How many times have I scrolled through my Instagram feed and been envious of other people's lives? What would my life look like if I could just clear out the chaos in my head and mute all the thoughts that keep me up at night? What would my day look like if I didn't worry about every little thing? What if I had the power to be who I want to be? 'Chaos' is a song about inner barriers, the desire to break out of the boring daily routine and see the world with different eyes."

On the video, he continues: "The music video for 'Chaos' emphasises the feeling of being trapped in your own head. At the same time, colourful settings, in contrast to dreary scenes in a prison cell, symbolize the desire to break out of boring everyday life and see the world with different eyes. However, the further the song progresses, the more hopeless the situation in the cell and the crazier and more colourful the thoughts and chaos in the head becomes."

This is the first new music heard from the band since their 2023 album Therapy In Melody. Produced by Phil Gornell (All Time Low, Bring Me The Horizon, Hot Milk), Therapy In Melody impressively conveys hope, support and perhaps also provides a new perspective or two. The single 'I Love Goodbyes' spent over 15 weeks in the official German radio airplay charts and peaked at #12 in the rock sector.

"This quartet manages to release so much energy in such an authentic way that, in terms of potential, they would have swept the DONOTS off the Waldbühne (Berlin) back in their 'Pocket Rock' days."  MoreCore

"Indecent Behaviour manages to create a good portion of variety and entertainment from the first to the last song." Fuze

Indecent Behavior impress with powerful hooks and catchy melodies. Their energetic live show creates musical space for optimism in a world where it is becoming increasingly rare. They get your feet tapping, adrenaline flowing and the songs drill into your nerves like healing acupuncture. A good dose of variety ensures an entertaining experience at all times.

Indecent Behavior is a familiar place where you forget your worries and fears. A place where you can share your inner self and simply be yourself.

Dutch symphonic metal band Blackbriar release new single 'Floriography'

Photo Credit: Jord Jørgen Otto Photography

Immerse yourself in the spellbinding world of Dutch symphonic metal band BLACKBRIAR with their next single release, 'Floriography'. This piece blends powerful riffs and delicate orchestrations, creating a captivating atmosphere. The lyrics evoke a hidden world where mysterious flowers carry secret messages, revealing Easter eggs throughout the melody.

Watch the video for 'Floriography' here: https://youtu.be/TDaC_O1Oyyc
Stream 'Floriography' here: https://blackbriar.bfan.link/floriography

Zora Cock comments: "'Floriography' marks the start of our upcoming third studio album. It's a song full of mystery, dark academia meets Sherlock Holmes. The song's protagonist deciphers hidden messages from a secret lover through the Victorian language of flowers, cryptic poetry, lyrical acronyms, and marks carved in trees. She may have even left some for you."

Formed in 2012 by Zora CockRené BoxemBart Winters, and Frank Akkerman, BLACKBRIAR crafted their first single in 2014 with 'Ready to Kill', but it was 2015’s second single 'Until Eternity' that truly propelled them into the scene. A sweeping track with an equally compelling and beautiful video, it continues to draw many to the act with over 20 million views since its debut. Taking advantage of the growing buzz surrounding the band, they independently recorded and released their first EP, Fractured Fairytales, as well as acquiring a second guitarist in Robin Koezen. This EP laid down an impressive foundation for the band’s ethereal and breathtaking sound and  brought about new opportunities for the act, including tour dates in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and more, where the band played alongside EPICAHALESTORMIN THIS MOMENTDELAIN and MaYan.

To keep moving ahead with full control of their creative ideals, the band successfully crowdfunded their follow-up EP, We’d Rather Burn, and brought it to life in October 2018. This EP would be the first time the band worked alongside esteemed producer Joost van den Broek to arrange and produce the effort, and this fruitful collaboration allowed BLACKBRIAR’s whimsical and enigmatic sound to reach new sonic heights. Released the same day as their self-made video for 'I’d Rather Burn,' this EP showcased a stronger sense of dreamy atmosphere and brought listeners beautifully grim tales of witches, banshees, and sea sirens. In the time following, keyboardist Ruben Wijga (ex-Re-Vamp) took a larger role within the band and began playing shows, after being involved in the songwriting process since Fractured Fairytales.

A busy 2019 followed, the band released a haunting single in May entitled 'Snow White and Rose Red'. A duet with Ulli Perhonen, their take on the Grimm’s fairytale featured striking cinematic visuals to accompany the spellbinding track. Continuing to dig deeper into fairytale realms, BLACKBRIAR closed the year with their third EP, Our Mortal Remains. Ever-sharpening their intoxicating blend of storytelling and breathtaking musicianship, the EP brought about new live exposures for the act as well. Small, sold out tours with EPICA in 2019 and 2020, as well as a sold out opening for DELAIN’s Apocalypse & Chill release show in Utrecht followed, with more future plans then being put on hold due to COVID-19.

Championing their continued independence, which included everything from songwriting, maintaining their web presence, overseeing merch, as well as shooting and producing their own videos and photos, BLACKBRIAR reached out to their ever-growing and loyal fanbase for assistance to make their full-length album a reality in 2020. Fans fervently heeded the call, reaching the €25,000 goal in under 24 hours and ending with a total of €70,000 and achieving all five stretch goals. An impressive accomplishment for an independent act, which also showcases a strong internet presence with over 230,000 YouTube subscribers and 56.5 million channel views as well as 37.9 million Spotify streams and 275,000 monthly streamers on the platform.

Entering 2021, the band relinquished a bit of control in signing exclusively with Doomstar Bookings to help properly support their highly anticipated first full-length album, The Cause of Shipwreck, which released in April. Once again recorded with renowned producer Joost van den Broek (EPICAAYREON, POWERWOLF) at Sandlane Recording Facilities, this release showcased the band’s continued evolution into masterfully dark gothic storytelling and theatrical aesthetics that entice you into a deadly yet spellbinding musical paradise. On the live front, launching into success with six sold out Dutch club shows, they later extended into more European territories such as Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, and the Czech Republic as the band moved into 2022.

Despite a very successful 2021, the band still hungered for more, unleashing their latest single, 'Fairy of the Bog' in December. A song about ‘het meisje van Yde’ (Yde girl), it’s a mixture of folklore, myth, and ancient local history wrapped into a more mystical and magical package that showcases what BLACKBRIAR does best. Due to winning ‘Drents Talent Award Culture 2021’ from ‘Stichting Kunst & Cultuur,’ BLACKBRIAR performed ‘I’d Rather Burn’ live on television together with the Dutch ‘Noordpool Orchestra in early 2022. In April, the band parted ways with founding member and bassist Frank Akkerman. Not a band to slow down, they welcomed Siebe Sol Sijpkens from The Netherlands as their new bassist. A happy and energetic performer with a lifetime of global performances, he is a welcome addition to the act as they continue to strive forward.

With their vision looking firmly into the future, with a major label behind them, they set their sights on 2023 to conjure their most deadly siren song yet. Previously releasing the song 'Crimson Faces' to celebrate their partnership with Nuclear Blast Records, the band then unveiled to the world their second album A Dark Euphony. According to Zora, “We've had the pleasure of working with producer and musical genius Joost van den Broek, and we gave it our all to write this record and feel that this is our most complete, personal, and mature album to date.”

With accolades behind them, such as being nominated three times for ‘Best Artist’ in EuroSonic/Noorderslag‘s Popgala Noord (2018, 2020, 2022), and continued fan support with current monthly streaming totals on YouTube and Spotify near 1.5 million streams, the world is primed and ready for more spectacular journeys into darkness and beauty.

Modern metal frontrunners Ad Infinitum have unveiled a music video for 'Anthem for the Broken', a catchy and gripping track from their latest full-length album, Abyss, which dropped last month via Napalm Records. With the release of Abyss, the energetic four-piece marks a significant turning point in their career. Ad Infinitum have taken their sound to the next level, evolving into one of the most exciting new modern metal bands around.

The new visual for 'Anthem for the Broken' shows a whole new facet of these rising stars and comes shortly after a successful EU/UK tour with symphonic metal greats Kamelot, where the band around vocalist Melissa Bonny enthralled thousands of fans in various cities and at sold-out venues. This reigning adventure continues in January 2025, when Ad Infinitum embark on an extensive EU tour with label-mates Infected Rain, supporting folk metal pioneers Eluveitie.

Ad Infinitum comment on the new video and upcoming tour: “We are excited to finally share the final piece of the video-puzzle that links all the videos of our album Abyss together, and to feature a song that we hope to hear you sing with us in January and February when we hit the road again!"

On the new album Abyss, gripping, rhythmic riffs, infectious choruses, heavy breakdowns and singer Melissa Bonny’s inimitable and increasingly versatile vocal approach present the band at the very top of their game - proving that these hard-working, ever-rising stars never fail in surprising their fans and critics alike.

The band comment on the new album: “Welcome to a new page of the Ad Infinitum story, where a new era begins. A journey connecting three albums, starting in the ominous darkness of Abyss, out on October 11th. The journey will continue through the hope and empowerment found at the Surface, and end in the freeing and energising dreamscapes of Elysium. We are extremely impatient to present this new record, as well as not only the beautiful artworks and videos depicting its universe, but the captivating visual storyline connecting each video to the next. This is our most elaborate, intimate and unapologetic work yet!”

Abyss soars as a modern metal masterpiece. After the opener 'My Halo', the intensity continues with 'Follow me Down', driven by entrancing riffs that solidify the band's technical prowess. 'Aftermath' highlights Ad Infinitum's energetic and experimental side, delivering potent growls and innovative compositions. 'Euphoria' transports listeners to ethereal soundscapes, seamlessly blending genres from catchy pop to visceral alt metal, creating a unique and captivating experience. The mystic 'The one you'll hold on to' follows with its powerful guitar riffs and haunting melodies, leading into the infectious 'Parasite'. This track spotlights Melissa Bonny's remarkable vocal abilities while giving ample space for impressive guitar work. The album culminates with 'Dead End', a gripping, catchy finale that leaves a lasting impression. Abyss is an unmatched, skilled tour de force showcasing Ad Infinitum’s vast creativity and variety of inspirations.

With their spellbinding releases, Ad Infinitum have reached millions of fans on streaming and video platforms worldwide, with over 4.2M views for their hit 'Unstoppable' alone. Furthermore, frontwoman Melissa Bonny is consistently drawn to exciting musical collaborations, demonstrating her matchless talent as featured guest for bands like Kamelot, Feuerschwanz and dArtagnan. 2024 has been a landmark year for the four-piece, highlighted by their US tour with symphonic metal masters Kamelot and power metal veterans HammerFall. In early 2025, and following the release of Abyss, they are set to embark on a European tour with folk metal pioneers Eluveitie and label-mates Infected Rain. This latest chapter marks a turn in their ascendant journey, with Abyss promising to leave a lasting impression on the modern metal scene.

Their highly acclaimed debut EP Freak Show accelerated their meteoric rise, earning them nominations in both the 2024 MOBO and Heavy Music Awards. The album announcement comes after their triumphant set at Download Festival, where Metal Hammer magazine described them as one the bands that defined this year’s event.

As two alternative people who understand living life outside of the edge of social norms, ALT BLK ERA have created a wonderful safe space and a community for alts and their allies. This ethos has earned them a loyal and diverse following, who see no barriers and boundaries musically and socially.

This safe space has allowed the girls to open up even more on Rave Immortal, which among its themes around diversity and inclusion, centres around Nyrobi coming to terms with a disabling illness, and the support she received from Chaya. From pain and struggle to newfound strength and unconditional love, this is a story that will resonate with anyone who has faced barriers, and is an inspiration overcome them and to be yourself no matter what.

On Rave Immortal, Nyrobi comments: "You might not notice on a first listen that this album is about my hidden disability that is a result of chronic illness that took hold during my teens and left me bed-ridden for years. I take the listener through the shadows and share the pain of abandonment I felt, and the solace that I found in my younger sister's unwavering support.

"This part of the album is so painful for me and at the same time it feels beautiful because it shows my sister by my side, every step of the way; through each emotion and every story. I wouldn’t have been brave enough to share this part of me without
Chaya and the track 'Come On Outside' is a beautiful reflection of her.

"But we don’t stop there! The album then captures the defiant energy that grew within us, as I became more able. The songs show us crashing through the imposed barriers and boldly claiming spaces that we were once excluded from. As the songs transition into a dreamscape, they delve into the exploration of relationships; the clash of personalities when fitting into a new friendship group and the dangerous mind of an infatuated person who is scarred by illness and years of isolation.

The rebellion then builds as we begin to host wild celebrations, fiercely defending our joy after so many years of imposed restriction. The final tracks turn the tide, transforming our pursuit of freedom into an exhilarating hunt, where those who once stifled our spirit are drawn into our eternal dance of liberation, freeing them from all worldly constraints."

Chaya continues: "This album starts as a deeply personal story of the physical and emotional pain that my sister went through when she first became ill. I was about twelve at that time. It was during the pandemic so it was a time of worry and isolation for me also but as Nyrobi slowly became more able to communicate, we spent every minute that she was awake together. I would sit in her room and contribute to her creations whilst she wrote song after song after song. From my more introverted perspective, the calmer songs reflect my nature, so 'Straight To Heart', 'Come On Outside' and 'Run Rabbit'. However,  I’ll ride-or-die for my big sis, so when it’s time to be defiant or to be rebellious, or when it’s time to scream, I’m right there too. This is what the album is about for me - our bond, that also respects who we are as individuals."

UK metal legends Raging Speedhorn unveil video for new single

UK metal legends Raging Speedhorn have releaased a video for their new single ‘Night Wolf’, their debut release on new label Spinefarm Records.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/mCu7ylblNHc

Stream ‘Night Wolf’ here: https://ragingspeedhorn.lnk.to/nightwolfsingle

The band comment on the video: "Shot in just over a day, the 'Night Wolf' video was inspired by our love of 80s movies and plays on a line taken from the single, "the animal inside is you". With tongue firmly in-cheek, it shows the transition from day into night and human turning into wild animal."

A major presence within the UK metal scene for the past two decades, with half a dozen crushing studio outings to their name (and what a name!), Raging Speedhorn have forged their reputation through hard touring, hard music, plus a no-compromise attitude… to everything.

New single, ‘Night Wolf’, the band’s first for Spinefarm, produced by Russ Russell, sees the six musicians – as much gang as band – delivering one of the most memorable moments of their career, with all valves glowing, all faders up and all needles flicking red.

The band comment on the single: “We’re super excited to release our new single ‘Night Wolf’, produced by our brother Russ Russell at Parlour Studios. It’s got everything you need in a classic Raging Speedhorn song:  big riffs, thundering drums and great vocals. To us, it’s a mixture of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath with a unique Speedhorn sound.

“We’ve been inspired by one of our favourite 80s movies, and we hope our fans will enjoy the retro vibe in our artwork.”

Drawing from a deep framework of literary horror masterworks, Gold guides the listener beyond the realm of death and through the metaphysical anomalies of a disheveled and decaying mind. In-so-which the pall of a savage universe is lifted, an inconceivable puppet master revealed, the remaining self of the listener excruciatingly dissolved, and left asking, “who is it that pulls the strings?”

Musically, SCOUR fuses the raw aggression of black metal with grindcore, punk, and thrash influences, manifesting a sound that honours extreme metal’s roots while pushing it into modern territory. Their minimalist approach is relentless and brutal, perfectly embodying this vision.

Comments Engemann, SCOUR is storming back onto the scene with our new single, ‘Infusorium,’ a relentless blend of intricate guitar work and raw, unforgiving intensity. This track raises the bar, with more intricate guitar work, and featuring a searing solo by Mark Kloeppel, undoubtedly some of his finest work that cuts straight to the core.

“Inspired by Jon Padgett’s haunting short novel, Infusorium, the lyrics channel the story's eerie depth and darkness, bringing a literary edge to the metal mayhem. As the lead single and first music video from our upcoming full length album, Gold, ‘Infusorium’ proves the SCOUR is fiercer and more dynamic. The SCOUR boys are back, more ripping than ever!”

Forged in 2015, SCOUR quickly made their mark with the blistering debut single 'Dispatched.' Their first release, The Grey EP (2016), came via Anselmo's own Housecore Records, followed by The Red EP in 2017. In 2020, SCOUR unleashed their most aggressive effort yet, The Black EP, released under Housecore and Nuclear Blast Records and featuring guest appearances from notable figures like Erik Rutan, Pat O’Brien, and actor Jason Momoa.

And now SCOUR elevates their intensity with the announcement of their first full-length album, Gold, which includes a guest solo by Gary Holt (Slayer, Exodus). Recording for Gold began in February 2023 at Nodferatu’s Lair -- Philip Anselmo’s personal studio and rehearsal space -- which saw the band highly engaged in a concentrated effort toward a truly diabolical composition, with Anselmo leading the charge at every turn. One would often find the entire band in the control room in ecstatic debate, meticulously mulling over every blast beat and divebomb. The album was intermittently refined, and lyrical concepts finalised, over the course of 2023 as touring schedules would allow.

Anselmo began vocal recordings in Autumn 2023 at The Lair. Backup vocal recordings were then executed by the rest of the band in arena backstage rooms over the course of Pantera’s February 2024 tour, where the full band would also thoroughly review the instrumentation mixes. Once the tracks were finalized by SCOUR and mixing engineer Dennis Israel, they were then passed to Fascination Street Studio in Örebro, Sweden for mastering by Jens Bogren

Despite their relatively short career, SCOUR has performed at some of the world’s most prominent festivals, including Roskilde, Hellfest, Tecate Metal Fest, and Maryland Deathfest. With such a powerful pedigree, SCOUR remains a dominant force in both live performances and studio recordings, and fans can expect even more from them in the future.

The Hellacopters reveal new single 'Leave A Mark'

Rejoice! Today, high-energy rock'n'roll royalty, The Hellacopters, have graced us with the first single from their upcoming brand new studio album Overdriver, which will see the light of day on 31st January 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records

The aptly titled new single 'Leave A Mark' unites two styles that The Hellacopters have become known for over the course of their 30-year career - the full-blown guitar assault reminiscent of The Stooges and MC5 as well as the anthemic, hook-laden approach to rock'n'roll, which is topped with a hint of melancholy.

Less than three years after their triumphant, chart-storming comeback record, Eyes Of Oblivion, which entered on #1 in their home country and on #3 in Germany, Sweden's most consistently great rock outfit is back with another banger of an album. Overdriver was recorded at Strawberry Studio & The Honk Palace and is the first The Hellacopters album entirely produced by Nicke Andersson. As you might expect from a The Hellacopters album it's filled to the brim with roaring guitars and earth-shattering grooves, fist-raising energy and anthemic choruses, while keeping the variety richer than ever before. The striking cover for Overdriver was created by German illustrator Max Löffler.

As of today, you can pre-order Overdriver on LP as well as CD. On top of the regular editions there's a Ltd. Digipak, incl. a patch, and a Ltd. Deluxe LP with a bonus 12''. Both special products contain two bonus tracks. More info on available formats below.

Coinciding with today's single drop, a music video for 'Leave A Mark' has been released. The video was directed and edited by Emil Klinta with whom the band have already worked on their most recent videos.

ABOUT THE HELLACOPTERS
Swedish high energy rock and roll band The Hellacopters released their eighth studio album, Eyes Of Oblivion, on April 1st, 2022. It marked the first full-length since the release of their temporary farewell record Head Off in 2008, which Nuclear Blast Records reissued in October 2024. Eyes Of Oblivion was met with massive acclaim from fans and media alike. Charting #1 in Sweden, #3 in Germany, #6 in Finland, the band celebrated a triumphant return culminating in a show with the mighty Iron Maiden in Gothenburg in July 2022, and apart from their own string of shows, gigs with Ghost in Germany in June 2023. Eager to keep the rock flowing, February 16th, 2024 saw The Hellacopters release not one, but two stunning versions of their classic Grande Rock album, which was originally released in 1999. Grande Rock Revisited included a remastered original version and a remixed and partially re-recorded version showing how the album could have sounded in a parallel universe with guitarist Dregen being in the band at the time. After making rock grande again, the group set sights on new material, debuting the phenomenal single 'Stay With You'  in May 2024 and releasing it as limited 7inch via Lightning Records
