The UK's most exciting new heavy band, HERIOT, will be supported by Southampton stalwarts Grove Street and London hardcore newcomers False Reality on their debut album headline tour in April.

Dates as follows:

09 Apr: Glasgow, G2 @ The Garage
10 Apr: Bristol, Fleece
11 Apr: London, Underworld
12 Apr: Birmingham, Asylum
13 Apr: Manchester, Rebellion

Tickets available from: https://www.heriotmetal.com

Comprised of individuals deeply rooted in the underground music scene, False Reality are a London-based hardcore band that formed in 2023. Renowned for their thrash infused, hardcore crossover sound and fiercely energetic performances they draw influences from bands such as Trapped Under Ice, Broken Teeth and Backtrack as well as early era Sepultura and even Deftones.

False Reality have carved out a distinct identity, leaving an imprint on audiences who have witnessed their performances. Having already shared the stage with the likes of Speed, Jesus Piece, Madball, Buried Alive and Static Dress, garnering support both locally and nationally, False Reality are solidifying their status as ones to watch.

Crossover hardcore quintet Grove Street dropped their 2023 debut The Path To Righteousness (UNFD) to national acclaim. Collaboration with Josh Middleton (Sylosis) and a co-headline run with Inhuman Nature have seen them further their already-established name, following a trio of EPs under the Grove Street Families moniker.

Devoured by the Mouth of Hell was recorded and produced by HERIOT's Jake Packer with Josh Middleton (Sylosis, Architects) and mixed and mastered by GRAMMY Award-winning Will Putney (END, Fit For An Autopsy, Better Lovers), with additional engineering by Justin Hill (SikTh, Betraying the Martyrs).

NMEKerrang! and Upset magazine cover stars, Devoured by the Mouth of Hell has been critically acclaimed worldwide as the breakthrough metal album of the year. Celebrating the release, HERIOT performed an intimate album release show in Bristol on 27th September 2024, which instantly sold out. Following the album release, HERIOT have since been on the road in the UK and across Europe supporting Fit For An Autopsy and Sylosis, alongside Darkest Hour.

HERIOT's debut album continues their ascendancy as the pre-eminent new force in the UK heavy scene. The album follows 'Siege Lord' and late 2023's 'Soul Chasm', the first two glimpses of new material following their signing with Century Media and support shows with Architects in summer of 2023.

HERIOT's debut EP Profound Morality (2022, Church Road Records) catapulted the quartet into the global spotlight, with praise worldwide and a debut, sold-out, headline tour across the UK. The band have since supported Lamb Of God, Thy Art Is MurderRolo Tomassi, and performed to packed tents at Download Festival, 2000trees, Wacken Open Air, Bloodstock, Mystic Festival and many more, gathering a legion of fans in the process. They since followed Profound Morality with the ferocious standalone single 'Demure' (February 2023, Church Road Records).

Fully-focused and with a razor-sharp edge, the awe-inspiring double-vocal attack of Jake Packer and Debbie Gough is all-conquering; the titanic support of Erhan Alman (guitar) and Julian Gage (drums) rock-solid.

HERIOT have deservedly been grabbing attention with all four pairs of hands, weaponising metallic sludge and hardcore, unholy levels of distortion, speed and gut-punching talent. Elements of NailsKnocked LooseCode Orange, and Vein.fm combine and collide to exhilarating effect, creating a sound that is truly groundbreaking, fully worthy of the notice the band are achieving.

In their short recent history HERIOT have caught the attention of NMEPitchfork, The Guardian, Metal Hammer UK, Rock Sound, Brooklyn Vegan, Kerrang!, Revolver, and Knotfest, among many others, heralding the quartet as "one of the most promising young bands in modern metalcore", and "probably the best new metal band in Britain".

HERIOT are:

Jake Packer - Vocals/Bass
Debbie Gough - Vocals/Guitar
Erhan Alman - Guitar
Julian Gage - Drums

JINJER drop new single / video for album title track

One of modern metal’s most talked-about artists, Ukrainian progressive groove metal icons JINJER, are gearing up to unleash their highly anticipated new full-length album, Duél, next Friday, 7th February 2025 via Napalm Records. Composed of offerings already being dubbed as “punishing” and “empowering” (Revolver) and continuing to prove themselves as “heavy music practitioners in their prime” (Knotfest), the album is poised to achieve top marks – clinching new successes beyond its lauded predecessors.

After ensnaring the eyes and ears of fans worldwide with recent singles like the powerful 'Someone's Daughter', eviscerating 'Rogue' and introspective 'Green Serpent', JINJER have unleashed a refreshing storm of technical proficiency with fifth single and title track 'Duél'. The bewildering track puts JINJER’s unparalleled brand of artistic mastery on full display, expanding on the already over six million cross-platform streams logged on their aforementioned singles.

Watch the 'Duél' video here: https://youtu.be/hEt3MajR0cU

Pre-order Duél here: https://lnk.to/Jinjer-Duel

After unleashing their most recently released chart-topping studio album, Wallflowers (#1 US Top New Artist Albums, #1 Canada Hard Music Albums, #5 UK Rock & Metal Albums, #7 Official German Album Charts) – hailed as “… one of the finest – and most important – metal releases of 2021” by KERRANG! and “a progressive masterpiece” by New Noise Magazine – and their following cycle on Europe’s biggest festivals (Wacken, Download, Rock am Ring and more), the band went into seclusion to conjure their most jaw-dropping collection of technical genius to date, Duél. The band once again collaborated with accomplished producer Max Morton, who co-produced, mixed and mastered the album. This new masterwork lives up to JINJER’s reputation as metal visionaries, proving that they wear no influences on their sleeves while charging a path entirely of their own making.

Followers of world-class screamer and multifaceted singer Tatiana Shmayluk will revel in her display of unrelenting power and gripping emotional delivery as early as album opener 'Tantrum' , while cruel stunners like 'Fast Draw' and 'Duél' showcase the acclaimed technical craftwork of drummer Vlad Ulasevich, guiatrist Roman Ibramkhalilov and bassist Eugene Abdukhanov.

Eugene Abdukhanov, JINJER bassist commented on the new album: “First of all, it‘s hard to believe that we’re about to release our fifth full length album! After all the releases we’ve made, finally having Duél in our hands and ready to be shared with the world, makes us very proud that our band still hasn’t run out of creativity and inspiration. The fact that we still challenge ourselves to release the best music we have ever made with each new release, is what keeps JINJER moving forward.

"This upcoming album was the longest songwriting process we’ve ever had and it took almost two years to complete. We worked very hard with every free minute we weren’t on tour, recording demos over and over again and always searching for the perfect sound for guitars, bass and drums. It was also the first time that
Tatiana did vocal pre-productions, so it’s safe to say that none of our releases were so well thought out and calculated as this one. It pulverises the boundaries of the modern progressive metal genre but still remains sophisticated, exciting and extreme all at the same time. We took up the challenge to expand our musical horizons even wider than before in order to cement Duél to be the next step in JINJER‘s musical growth and hopefully the evolution of metal music in general.”

Kælan Mikla soar through the worlds of legends, fairy tales, magic and mysticism. Extraordinary soundscapes conjured by synths, dreamy vocals, screams and droning bass lines dominate and pull the listener ever deeper into the mythical world of Kælan Mikla

The band, consisting of Sólveig Matthildur, Margrét Rósa, and Laufey Soffía, let the complex interplay of musical and visual experience play a key role in their stagings, captivating audiences with a unique blend of post-punk, goth, and dream-pop influences, evoking a moody, otherworldly atmosphere inspired by the darkened landscapes of their native Iceland.

The band first gained attention after winning a poetry slam competition, which led to them transforming their literary explorations into music. Their debut album,  Mánadans (2014), introduced their signature atmospheric sound, and their subsequent albums, Kælan Mikla (2016), Nótt eftir nótt (2018), and Undir Köldum Norðurljósum (2021), showcased their progression into a darker, more refined sonic space.

Kælan Mikla’s ethereal live performances have earned them a dedicated international following, and they have embarked on several major tours with artists such as Ville Valo, Alcest, and Chelsea Wolfe, whose audiences resonated deeply with Kælan Mikla's atmospheric and intense stage presence. Their tour with Ville Valo was particularly significant, as it introduced them to a wider audience of gothic and rock enthusiasts, whilst touring with Chelsea Wolfe also aligned them with similarly dark, evocative acts, creating a synergy that made for unforgettable live experiences.

A key milestone in their career was their BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale session in 2023, which served to showcase their evocative sound to a broader audience and highlighted their growing international appeal. This milestone underscored their position as a key force in the darkwave movement, bringing Icelandic gothic soundscapes to the global stage.

At every stage, the forces of nature play a key role in Kælan Mikla's music, and the personification of their powers shine through. In their own words: “We look at Iceland's nature in the form of female figures who dominate the rugged landscape of lava, fog and cliffs. A powerful feminine energy ties the stories together in a balanced yet provocative way”.

The elegant lyricism of their poetry builds mountain peaks shrouded in mist and mystery. Kælan Mikla’s otherworldly force continues to profoundly inspire audiences through a cathartic realm of emotional exploration.

Kælan Mikla are:

Laufey Soffía - lead vocals
Margrét Rósa - bass, backing vocals
Sólveig Matthildur - synths, backing vocals, flute

Irish alt/post-rock duo Bicurious release new video

Dublin/Leipzig-based rock duo Bicurious have shared a new video for ‘Magic Marker’, a song taken from their new album Your Life is Over Now… released in October 2024 via their new home in Big Scary Monsters.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/mvxpvDL9-W8
Stream / order Your Life is Over Now... here: https://orcd.co/ylion

Drawing influence from Biffy Clyro, Reuben and Thrice, Your Life is Over Now... is a much more lyrical body of work than Bicurious' previous material, as the band tread new sonic ground. Thematically, the album explores the various facets of the idea of family - including Bicurious' own fans, who crowdfunded over €9000 to help make the record.

On 'Magic Marker', guitarist/vocalist Taran Plouzané comments: “To me, ‘Magic Marker’ is the ballad of the album. Even though it gets loud and heavy, it’s very emotional throughout, and the lyrics definitely play into that. Balancing being a musician and personal life has always been a challenge, since it’s such an all-consuming way of life. Of course we love doing it, but it sometimes means that certain aspects of our lives or certain relationships can suffer from it. That’s what the song is about.

“For the video, I thought of going back to the places where I grew up, places where I realised I wanted to become an artist, and just filming stuff. Then, I thought it might be cool to bring my kids along, and use them as a representation of me as a kid in that environment, if that makes sense. I also really wanted to capture the message I wrote on my bedroom wall as a kid - watch the video and read the lyrics and see if you get it! I think it’s an interesting video because in itself, it’s not really that interesting, or thrilling, from an outside perspective… But it aligns with the themes of the song in a very personal way, which I think might be interesting to see for some.”

Fresh off a wild UK and Irish tour celebrating the release of their new album, the duo are heading back out to the UK in February and to mainland Europe in March. Catch them at one of the following dates:

Feb 06: UK Norwich Rock Fest
Feb 07: UK Aldershot West End Centre
Feb 08: UK Brighton Green Door Store
Mar 18: BE Brussels La Source

Formed in Dublin in 2016, Bicurious have been making their mark in the rock scene throughout Europe. Their two albums (re)constructed (2021) and Your Life is Over Now… (2024)  have earned the band a cult fan following and drawn the scene’s attention, awarding them appearances at ArcTanGent (2022, 2023, 2024), The Great Escape (2022), Portals Festival (2021, 2023) and StrangeForms Festival (2022) among others. Bicurious’ new album Your Life is Over Now..., released on iconic UK indie label Big Scary Monsters, was crowdfunded by their fans, who helped them raise over €9000 towards the record. Gathering over 8.8 million Spotify streams, and with support from the likes of Guitar World, Audiotree, Metal Hammer and Hot Press, the band have made fans all over the world with their unique blend of rock, math-rock, post-rock and unforgettable melodies.

Millie Manders and The Shutup release new single 'R.I.P'

Millie Manders and The Shutup have released their new single 'R.I.P', taken from their latest album Wake Up, Shut Up, Work. The single precedes their Choose The Bear UK tour, which takes place in spring.

[Please contact hannah@holdtight.co for a WAV or MP3 of 'R.I.P']

In troubled times, we need artists who will shine a light in the dark, and Millie Manders is emerging as a voice of her generation. Her second album, Wake Up, Shut Up, Work, is exactly the kind of tonic needed right now. Chock-full of ideas, opinions and huge hooks, marinated in teeth-rattling guitar riffs, skilfully piloted by Millie’s huge, emotive, clarion vocal.

The infectious new single ‘R.I.P’, about a broken relationship, comes ahead of the band’s headline London show at Camden Dingwalls on 13th February – part of the Choose The Bear UK tour in the spring.

"The lyrics started with a live stream songwriting workshop with my Patreons," she says. "It’s become an anthem for those who have lost friendships or relationships that needed to be put to rest. A celebration of the death of something that opens the door to new horizons. 'R.I.P' has always been my personal favourite because it was the first song we completed and chose for the album."

Also receiving high praise is Millie Manders and the Shutup's growing reputation for joyous and memorable live shows. The Dark (feat Alan Ashby of Of Mice and Men) release new single 'Circles'

The Dark have dropped 'Circles', a dynamic fusion of metal and disco that explores duality through tension, acceptance, and big questions. Packed with disco beats, heavy riffs, and acid bass, the track pushes boundaries both sonically and visually, featuring gritty, distorted aesthetics. 'Circles' is a bold statement from a band redefining the limits of their sound.

The band comment: "The whole song is about duality. It's the heat of the moment, and it's the big picture. It's the sexual tension, and it's acceptance. It's asking the big questions and then ignoring them. It's metal and it's disco. Even when it came to be time to make the visuals, I said let's film it on the nicest camera I have and then run it through a cheap old TV and ruin it... that's perfect.

"'Circles' was probably my favorite track on the EP to produce. I got to check all my favorite boxes. The disco influence, the call and response verses, the riffs in the chorus, acid bass everywhere, the freaking innuendos... and then a massive inhale at the end... absolute blast."

Following the explosive double singles 'Sulfur' and 'Sombre 16', ' Line In The Dust' showcases the Marseille-based quintet’s signature blend of punishing riffs, melodic hooks, and deeply personal lyricism. Frontman Florent Salfati’s powerful vocals lead the charge in what is already being hailed as one of the band’s most emotionally resonant tracks to date.

Known for pushing boundaries and captivating over 900,000 monthly Spotify listeners, LANDMVRKS continue to carve their name into the global metalcore scene. With pre-orders for The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been now live, fans can expect the album to be their most ambitious and impactful release yet.

LANDMVRKS' relentless drive, paired with their world touring success in 2024 and past hits like 'Creature', ensures that A Line In The Dust is another bold step in solidifying their legacy as a force to be reckoned with in modern metalcore.

'A Line In The Dust' continues to develop the story of the creature, who, in a moment of self-awareness, realises who she truly is and that she is trapped in her own world. The addition of Mat Welsh emphasises the effect of duality and adds a universal dimension to this story.

LANDMVRKS embark on an extensive North America headline tour in March, check online for full dates.
